Load capacity
The 1.5x rule: the winch’s capacity should be at least 1.5 times the vehicle’s weight.
Vehicles up to 2000 kg – min. 6000 lbs (2700 kg) winch
Vehicles up to 3000 kg – min. 9000 lbs (4000 kg) winch
Vehicles over 3000 kg – min. 12000 lbs (5400 kg) winch
Power type
12V – standard for most passenger vehicles
24V – for heavy-duty and commercial vehicles
Hydraulic – maximum power, requires hydraulic pump
Rope type
Steel rope – traditional, strong, but requires extra caution
Synthetic rope – safer, doesn’t store energy, safer to handle
